The recent revelation by Deputy President William Ruto that Budalang'i MP Ababu Namwamba was heading to Jubilee is a vindication to Opposition leader Raila Odinga, observes former Law Society of Kenya chair Okong’o Omogeni.

Ababu had accused Raila of allegedly betraying him and insisted that he was finding a way of uniting the Luhya people even after Ruto revealed that he would join Jubilee.

And on Monday, Omogeni said the former ODM secretary general was looking for an exit strategy by accusing the party leadership of short-changing him and insisted that his plan had ‘hit’ a snag.

“Sometimes people do things in darkness and God reveals them. Ababu was only looking for an exit strategy by accusing the ODM leadership yet the government had procured his services. Perhaps the plan hasn’t gone well as he expected,” he said.

“The DP was categorically clear and he can’t really lie to the public. His remarks have vindicated Rail and instead dealt Ababu a huge blow because people may no longer believe in what he tells them,” he added.

He challenged the Budalang'i lawmaker to reconcile with his former boss to save his political career by remaining in ODM.

“His exit strategy has just backfired and to save his political career, he has to reconcile with Raila and maybe remain an ordinary member of the party. The storm is too big for him now that DP has revealed that Jubilee was behind the move,” he said.
