Nairobi City Governor Evans Kidero has dragged Deputy President William Ruto’s name into the county’s politics claiming that the DP has interests in managing the county through backdoor means.
Kidero, who is defending his seat on an ODM ticket asserted that claims that Ruto was the machinery behind Senator Mike Sonko’s entry into the gubernatorial race were true.
He cautioned the DP against meddling in the city’s politics for his 2022 state house bid.
Kidero’s assertions come few days after independent candidate for the city’s top job Peter Kenneth blamed ruto for allegedly rigging him out in favour of Sonko during the Jubilee Party’s primaries.
Kenneth labeled Sonko as an incompetent individual who was out to fake his personality by donning in suits ahead of August poll.The Senator dismissed Kidero’s remarks linking his bid with Ruto’s political future. He said the incumbent had sensed loss come August 8. Sonko termed Kidero’s statements as baseless.
The vocal Senator branded Kenneth a NASA project out to scuttle Jubilee Party’s efforts to dethrone Kidero.
