Fresh details on how a determined Deputy President William Ruto worked around the clock to thwart Raila Odinga's purported inauguration have emerged.

A resilient Raila took oath in absence of his colleagues with Kalonzo Musyoka claiming that they were under house arrest hours to the rally.

"We held a meeting on Monday and planned how to go for the function. Raila did not sleep at his home and the three of us were put under house arrest," he said.

But a top ODM luminary, who requested anonymity, now claims that the three held a meeting with Ruto with US ambassador Robert Godec as the intermediary.

To perfect the plot, he says, the three switched off their phones to delay Raila arriving at the venue as a way of making the event unconstitutional.

"We are aware of the meeting with Ruto in which they all attended. They knew well that a swearing-in without Kalonzo and past 2pm would be inconsequential."

Until now, Raila is yet to issue statement on the last minute betrayal even after promising the multitude that Kalonzo would take oath on a later date.

Criticism has continued to mount of Musalia Mudavadi, Moses Wetangula and Kalonzo with NASA supporters taking their disappointment on social media.
