Women in the society are as important as God created them to be and 8 March every year, the International Women's Day, is a date set aside for them to be globally celebrated and appreciated as the strong pillars of the various nations making up the globe.
Well, Deputy President William Ruto couldn't let the day go without appreciating our great Kenyan women and he took to his twitter account to express his gratitude towards the role women play in the society.
In one of his Thursday tweets, the DP said women are the nurturers and caregivers of every single individual including themselves and would work only to ensure people around them live in comfort and get the best out of life and for this reason should be supported through all means possible.
"Women are nurturers and caregivers who make sacrifices, including denying themselves, to ensure we live in comfort and get the best out of life. We draw on their strength and indomitable spirit to never give up and see the positive in every situation," read DP Ruto's tweet on Wednesday.
He went ahead to narrate the role of women in the society citing that they knit the society using there powerful skills and wisdom and their prowess in businesses to develop the society's economy.
"We value the role women play in knitting society, particularly their mobilisation skills to rally around a good cause, their tenacity and wisdom, business acumen and inculcating discipline and forthrightness to their charges," the DP added.
In his conclusion, DP Ruto said the government is committed to ensure gender equality and promoting value and recognition of women in the community adding that the government will also help women and girls achieve their protential.
"We are committed to taking pragmatic action to accelerate gender parity through enabling legislation, closing gender pay gap, challenging bias and giving prominence and valuing women’s contribution to society and helping women and girls achieve their potential," he concluded.
