Speaking during an interview with Citizen TV on Sunday, Ruto said the hectic nature which the coalition settled for its presidential candidate was a sure sign of tribal politics being at the core of decision making.
"Unlike us in Jubilee, our opponents are in a tribal grouping that could even tear this country apart.Look at how hard it was for them to settle for a presidential candidate.Look at how the tribal arithmetic dominates its strategies", he said.
He added that it was the time the Raila Odinga-led coalition borrowed from them on how to form national parties like Jubilee.
" When we decided to collapse our small parties to form Jubilee, some nay sayers dismissed us saying how could regions and tribes survive without local political formations, but look today, Jubilee is present in every part of this country. That is the kind of politics we want the country to embrace and that is the challenge we want to pose to our competitors", he said.
Ruto also expressed optimism that the Jubilee would be reelected on October 17 with an even greater margin than it garnered in the nullified presidential polls.
