Isaac Rutto has joined National Super Alliance co-principals ahead of Monday’s retreat in the coast that would last for three days.
Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka, Moses Wetangula and Musalia Mudavadi are set to discuss a report that was tabled by a technical committee which evaluated options on who should be flag bearer among them.
But Rutto, a fierce critic of Jubilee government, last week declared support for NASA and is set to sign a MoU that would streamline their working relationship.
In a document leaked by a section of elders, Mr. Rutto had agreed with NASA to avoid fielding candidates in Bomet, Kericho and Nakuru counties where he is expected to front Chama Cha Mashinani aspirants.
Although he was set to receive Raila Odinga on Saturday, the meeting however was reportedly postponed to allow NASA come up with a presidential flag bearer ahead of August polls.
And at his Bomet backyard, Mr. Rutto, whom NASA is banking on for Rift Valley votes, is facing a stiff resistance from Sotik MP Joyce Laboso and former Konoin MP Julius Kones.
Despite the resistance, an opinion survey carried by Infortrack last week projected him as a winner for August polls if all factors remain constant.
