Bomet governor Isaac Rutto says his Chama Cha Mashinani will support a presidential candidate who will show commitment towards devolved units.
Rutto also argues that the candidate must promise at least 40 percent of the national cake to county governments.
The Bomet County boss has been in loggerheads with Jubilee administration, which has substantial from his backyard, over its non-commitment in supporting devolved governments.
“As CCM party leader, we will support a candidate who will show commitment in supporting county governments. Governors have faced a lot of challenges because the government has shown total disregard to us,” he told KTN news on Monday.
“Whoever will promise an allocation of at least 40 percent to devolved governments will have our vote. That is why we are intending to do,” he added.
Currently, the constitution recommends devolution of at least 15 percent of the national resources to counties based of the last audited financial year allocations.
