Outspoken Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto risks losing his seat to National Assembly Deputy Speaker and Sotik MP Joyce Laboso, reports the Star.

According to Infrotrak survey, Rutto, who will be contesting from Mashinani party, would win with 38.9 percent and Laboso would emerge second with 37.7 percent.

Former Konoin MP Julius Kones, who will face Ms. Laboso in Jubilee primaries, would score 7.3 percent with a whopping 16.1 percent of locals remaining undecided.

Having broken ranks with Jubilee party, Mr. Rutto has been leading an onslaught against Jubilee administration in South Rift and on Tuesday, he vowed to ensure opposition NASA wins August elections in the region.

Despite attracting masses to his rallies however, Mr. Rutto’s CCM party trails Jubilee party in terms of popularity with figures showing that it enjoys only 12 percent against Jubilee’s 73 percent of the support.

Deputy President William Ruto has pitched tent in South Rift region and recently vowed to ensure the rebel governor loses in August elections.

Also teaming up with Governor Rutto includes Narok West MP Patrick Ntutu and vocal Emurua Dikir legislator Johanna Ng’eno.
