A week after Jubilee brigade under the stewardship of President Uhuru Kenyatta toured vote rich Nakuru County, Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto is set for a series of rallies in the region.

While Jubilee dominated the region in 2013, opposition team is relying on the rebellious Governor, whose CCM party has since backed candidature of Raila Odinga.

And in what seems to be a response to Kenyatta’s tour, Rutto alongside veteran politician Zakayo Cheruiyot will take charge of the region on Thursday.

“Kalenjins are not a sack of potatoes to be carried by anyone the way he thinks,” said Rutto in his previous scathing attacks on DP William Ruto.

“We have gained nothing in Jubilee and I am ready to fight for NASA so that we form an all-inclusive government,” he added while on a tour in Nakuru last month.

A recent opinion poll by Ipsos Synovate shows that opposition team is gaining ground in Rift Valley having garnered 32 percent, a surge which could be attributed to Ruto’s influence.

Although Nakuru County is cosmopolitan, members of Kalenjin and Kikuyu communities are predominant in the region.
