Six people believed to be supporters of Bomet governor Isaac Ruto were arrested, Saturday night, for allegedly breaching electoral laws.

Police also confiscated a truck which was being used by Chama Cha Mashinani to campaign.

According to Bomet police boss Samson Rukunga, the six suspects are accused of creating disturbance by traversing the county at night to popularise the party.

“We have been trailing them for a while now. They have been moving around daily at odd hours and playing loud music, which is against the electoral regulations,” Rukunga said.

CCM leader has however denied the allegations that the truck has been moving during odd hours and noted that that was just an excuse to take away the truck.

“The truck was in fact parked when it was impounded. It had developed mechanical problems while at a function in Mismis, Chepalungu and it had to be fixed at that time of the night in readiness for the next day’s events,” sai Vitalis Kimutai, a communication director in the office of the governor.

“All the amplifiers mounted on that truck are not working and anyone who wants to confirm can get test because even a technician who was working on it was arrested,” he added.

Rukunga however maintained the vehicle has been moving in town at night and said the six will be arraigned in court, Monday.
