[photo/the-star.co.ke/RVTTI Eldoret ]Rift Valley Technical Training Institute (RVTTI) in Eldoret has received a major boost after the government allocated Sh25 million towards the development of virtual training center.
Vocational and Technical Training Principal Secretary Dr. Dinah Mwinzi said the money will be channeled to the institution through the Education ministry.
Speaking during a graduation ceremony on Friday, she challenged parents to enroll their children in technical institutes where they will acquire knowledge and skills that would prepare them for self-employment upon completion of their studies.
Mwinzi said most students who have passed through technical institutes are guaranteed of self-employment after graduation in wake of unemployment crisis in the country.
“The government is committed to TVET and that is why it has allocated Sh25 million to equip RVTTI Virtual Training Centre to improve the quality of TVET graduates and the quality of life in general,” said Mwinzi.
She said the government is committed to ensuring all technical training institutes are well equipped with manpower and personnel to offer quality training to students.
Mwinzi revealed that the government in partnership with private developers has allocated Sh4 million to the institute to expand hospitality department.
The funds will be used to improve hostels and other infrastructure at the hospitality department in the institution.
