Nasa and Jubilee party is expected to lock horns at Uhuru Park grounds, Nairobi, on Friday, June 7, 2017 for this year’s Saba Saba prayers.
Saba Saba is the day when protesters in Kenya demanded successfully for multiparty democracy in 1990.
Kenyans marks the day with several activities among them pushing for better living conditions from the government.
Both Jubilee and Nasa have been cleared by police to congregate at the grounds with their supporters to celebrate the day.
Speaking to journalists, Monday, the Nasa flag bearer Raila Odinga said the prayers were a preparation for the upcoming August polls.
"Tutakuwa na maombi siku ya Saba Saba kwa sababu tunataka kuanza hiyo ziara ya kuelekea kwa nane nane," said Raila. (We will have prayers on Saba Saba because we want to start the journey to Nane Nane).
The event will be attended by leaders from both political divides.
According to a State House source who spoke to the Star, the will be no political talks during Saba Saba celebrations.
After the event, Jubilee part will head to Turkana for a rally while Nasa will hold their rally at Kamukunji grounds in Nairobi.
