A Nairobi matatu driver accused of being among a group of persons that drug and steal from passengers was on Monday charged in court.
Patrick Thuku was arraigned before Senior Resident Magistrate Hellen Onkwani and will be in remand for 10 days pending police investigations.
According to the Standard, a police investigator has disclosed that Thuku was on Sunday arrested following a complaint by a female passenger who claimed to have been drugged and robbed by matatu operators at the Kenyatta National Hospital bus stage.
The police source further expressed fears by the investigation team that Thuku would interfere with investigations if released on bond.
The complainant in the case said that she had been robbed of Sh3 000 cash, a mobile phone, ID and ATM cards by crew belonging to Dakika MO Sacco.
