Matatu Saccos operating within Nakuru town say they are ready and willing to work with Governor Kinuthia Mbugua in ending the traffic menace in the town.
Speaking Tuesday morning at the Nakuru main bus stage, Central Rift Matatu Sacco chairman Stephen Muli said that they will meet the governor anytime he invites them for a meeting because they are the worst affected by the endless traffic jams being witnessed in Nakuru town.
He said that the matatu sector is losing millions of shilling every month as a result of delays caused by traffic jams in the town.
“We have just heard that the governor wants to meet us to discuss about this traffic issue and we want to welcome his move and tell him that we are more than willing and ready to work with him and offer our suggestions about how we can solve this problem which is almost killing business in Nakuru,” said Muli.
Muli added that some matatu stages will have to be relocated and moved out of town as one of the solutions to the problem.
“I know it might be opposed by some operators but the bitter truth is that we will be forced to move some stages out of town as one way of decongesting our roads so that only a limited number of public service vehicles can be allowed into town,” he said.
On Monday while speaking at his office governor Mbugua indicated his intentions to meet players in the matatu industry to discuss possible ways of solving the traffic menace in Nakuru.
