Moiben Member of Parliament Silas Tiren has called for the removal of Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture Mwangi Kiujuri due to the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) Sh1.9 billion scandal.
The Jubilee MP says as the Cabinet Secretary, Kiunjuri has to take responsibility for the scam.
“I want to call upon President Uhuru Kenyatta to sack CS Kiunjuri with immediate effect since he is directly responsible for the maize scandal. He is the boss and knows what happened and who was involved,” said Tiren in Eldoret town, Sunday.
“As farmers, we are really disappointed with his leadership and he must be shown the door for sanity to prevail. It is sad that some people were paid a lot of money for supplying maize to NCPB yet farmers from the region have not been paid 4 months down the line,” he added.
The two-time MP noted that farmers no longer have faith in Kiunjuri's leadership.
He challenged President Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto to get serious in the fight against corruption by ensuring stern actions are taken against those involved in graft.
Tiren further said that all NCPB managers and the traders involved in the maize scandal should be arrested taken to court and their assets frozen.
