According to the residents, the county firefighters lack skills to operate the fire engines.

“For how long can the workers be trained on how to contain fires? Governor Ongwae and his deputy should send the lazy and unskilled workers home because they have totally failed. We can’t lose a lot of property while the workers are on the scene watching,” said Lillian Marwa.

Another resident Geoffrey Manoti faulted the county for spending too much to purchase a firefighting engine which is not helping.

“We can’t afford to have a fire engine which is not helping and the county government leases fire engines from neighboring counties. This is unacceptable and the governor should do something to improve the firefighting department to help in containing fires in future,” he said.
