A Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (Kuppet) official has lashed out at the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) for allegedly sabotaging dialogue meant to end the crisis between the two.
Kuppet Kisii County executive secretary, Ben Nyaundi now wants president Uhuru Kenyatta to relieve TSC officials of their duties and bring on board a fresh team which he says should be able to reason with stakeholders.
Speaking to the press on Wednesday in his office, Nyaundi lauded the newly appointed cabinet secretary for Education, Fred Matiang'i for his efforts to see issues in the education sector solved.
"The new CS has shown goodwill through engaging the two sides for reconciliation. Why is he given a deaf ear by TSC while trying to resolve impending issues that have rocked education sector?" wondered Nyaundi.
He added: "On behalf of Kuppet-Kisii County branch, we ask the president to sack TSC chairman and the chief executive officer for sabotaging discussions between education stakeholders that mean to establish an amicable remedy and avert frequent strikes that paralyses learning in schools."
Nyaundi also asked TSC to pay the teachers their September salaries as directed by the court and the president.
