Ms Ombara who has been the face of Sh4 billion Kisumu Urban Project has been assigned to spearhead the project funded by UN Habitat.

County Secretary Humphrey Nakitare on Thursday confirmed the changes, saying Deputy City Manager Muthoni Orlale will take up Ombara’s roles on an acting capacity.

Mr Nakitare said the move is an upward scale for the City Manager aimed at making the Lake Front Development pick up.

“The City Manager is good at management of donor funding, and the Lake Front Development is a massively donor funded project so we hope she is better placed to handle the new role,” said Nakitare.

Ms Ombara who had served as the county’s Resource Mobiliser before taking up the City job leaves the city before the full implementation of the KUP project which is expected to come to an end by June this year.

She was however, not reachable for a comment on the new role.

Prior to her removal from the city position, Ms Ombara was not been in good terms with the executive over what she termed as the city ‘being starved of funds’.

With the city being the biggest contributor to the county’s revenue at 80 per cent, there was uproar that most of the funds were being distributed to fund other county projects out of the city.

The changes are to take effect immediately, according to the County Secretary.
