Safaricaom’s CEO, Bob Collymore, will continue heading the telecommunication company until 2019.

This is after the company’s board extended his contract for another period of two years.

The contract, which was to end in August 2017, was extended for two more years in May 2015.

The extension will now see Collymore remain at the helm of Safaricom until August 2019.

According to chairman Nicholas Ng'ang'a, the board retained him to help steering the company on a growth trajectory.

"He has successfully navigated the company through very difficult times," said Ng'ang'a.

Collymore joined Safaricom as CEO, taking over from Michael Joseph, in August 2010, from UK's Vodafone.
