Safaricom Foundation has donated various learning facilities worth millions to schools in Lower Eastern region.

Six schools in Machakos, Makueni and Kitui received facilities worth Sh4.5 million from the giant telecommunications firm.

Speaking when she handed over a Sh1.2 million library to Uamini Primary School in Matungulu Constituency, Machakos, foundation Trustee Janice Mwendameru said the facility will go a long way in helping the pupils improve their performance.

"Our aim is to make a difference in rural schools across the country," she said urging the students to make good use of the library.

Joseph Ogutu, foundation chairman, said they will continue supporting education in the country.

"We believe building a literate generation is an investment towards the future," Ogutu said on Friday while handing over a furnished classroom worth Sh900,000 to Kateke Primary School in Kitui.
