Eight Safaricom M-Pesa agents have moved to court to reverse the termination of their contracts with the regional telecoms giant.

The eight claim that Safaricom last month issued them with termination notices but has since failed to engage them even as they intend to reverse the telco’s move.

Collectively operating more than 100 M-Pesa tills; Walts Ventures, Connect Hub Enterprises, Maxmillian Agency, Midax Petroleum, Lemiz Inter Traders, Kaiwan Enterprises, Real Technologies and Da Carlsam Limited say the action by Safaricom was unfair to them.

They argue that if the move is not reversed, their hired agents will continue to do business with Safaricom, a disregard to their heavy investment in the M-Pesa business.

They say their investment relied on loans from banks.

Safaricom said that the eight sold their businesses to third parties –a move that is in total violation of the M-Pesa business agreement.
