Three Safaricom officials have been summoned to appear in court in a case where five suspects are facing terror related charges over the Garissa University attack.
Chief magistrate Francis Andayi issued the summons after a representative from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution complained that Safaricom was delaying the case.
Magistrate Andayi summoned Safaricom Acting Managing Director, liaison officer Inspector Raballa and superior liaison officer Weldon Siongok to appear in court.
The prosecutor Duncan Ondimu accused the mobile service provider of sabotaging trial of the case and treating the criminal matter casually despite its seriousness.
Ondimu noted that Safaricom failed to present an engineer who could explain the call data produced in court and simplify it.
In the case, the five are being accused of allegedly aiding Al-Shabaab militants in their attack at the institution on April 2, 2015 that left 142 students dead and several others injured.
The suspects are Osman Abdi, Rashid Charles, Mohamed Abdi, Hassan Aden and Sahal Diriye who were being charged of committing the offence together with others not before the court.
The case will be heard on February 15.
