Renowned blogger, Cyprian Nyakundi has been sued by Safaricom over defamatory articles.
The article that landed the blogger in trouble stated that the mobile company was swindling Kenyans.
The company served the blogger through a newspaper after claiming that he was a very hard man to find and that he needed to be stopped soon before making more accusations against other companies or individuals.
"Take notice that the application will be heard on June 28, 2017. If you do not attend, the application will be heard your absence withstanding," read the statement in the paper.
Safaricom said that part of the reason they served the blogger was because he was spreading nonfactual information which was tainting their image.
Nyakundi said that the company was unfair to its employees and went as far as firing them for simply falling ill.
The blog that drew the attention of many Kenyans was titled, ‘‘How Safaricom steals from Kenyans with third parties.’’ In this blog, the blogger explained what exactly happens behind closed doors in the company.
Nyakundi has now been barred by the High Court from publishing stories related to Safaricom until further notice.
