The government, non-governmental organisations, and other development partners have been asked to work together towards ensuring the country implements the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Speaking in Eldoret on Friday during a meeting with SDG's implementation partners from the North Rift region, Safaricom Foundation chairman Joseph Ogutu reiterated the need for concerted efforts in making strides in the goals implementation process.

He further reaffirmed Safaricom's commitment to making a strong contribution to realizing the SDG's.

"For these goals to be achieved, everyone needs to do their part. We also need to discuss roles and responsibility of each of the stakeholders," said Mr. Ogutu.

"We have to work in partnership in order to stand a good chance of implementing the SDG's and impact positively for our people," he added.

The Safaricom Foundation Chairman further revealed that as a company they had invested over Sh340 million in supporting various projects geared towards helping in the implementation of SDGs in the 10 North Rift counties.

Among the SDG's being supported by Safaricom includes projects that aims to end poverty, end hunger and achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture, ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages and ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all among others.
