Safaricom has now introduced a voice biometric system dubbed ‘Jitambulishe’ that allows customers to access services through a faster and less intrusive vetting process.
The voice biometric technology, identifies customers by analysing numerous unique characteristics of their voice including the shape of larynx, vocal tract and nasal passage, alongside pronunciation, emphasis and speed of their speech.
In a statement to the public safaricom said Customers are required to call Safaricom customer care to register their voices to start enjoying the new service. Once registered, when you call again having a query, your pre-recorded voice print will then enable you to do SIM swaps, unlock M-PESA PIN and PUK requests. This will in the longrun reduce fraud and theft.
“Jitambulishe allows customers to use their voices for authentication before accessing assisted services such as resetting M-PESA PIN, and PUK requests, significantly cutting down the steps a customer goes through before they are assisted.” Safaricom said.
This process is expected to be faster than the previous years whenever you were to wait on the line and asked many questions for confirming identity.
To register, you can Dial 100,200,234. This program exempts corporate customers. The statement also said that safaricom customer care received over 300,000 calls a day.
