Regional traffic coordinator Joshua Omukata said many Kenyans have lost lives in the past festive seasons due to road accidents.

Omukata said they are determined to ensure Nyanza residents go through the festive seasons without any injury as a result of any accident.

“We are out to stop these unnecessary deaths and the campaign will go wide in the entire Nyanza region,” he said.

Speaking in Kisumu, along Nairobi-Kisumu Highway when his officers marched with a banner showing an accident scene, Omukata said anybody may fall a victim to speeding.

He said every resident should cross over to the New Year of 2015 while safe, and, not admitted in hospital.

“Let everyone cross over to 2015 in good health. We do not want to meet you in a hospital or attend your burial,” he said.

Omukata added, “Let us be mindful of others while driving on the road.”

He later hanged the banner at Nyamasaria fly over saying choosing an accident scene to preach about speeding is the best way to drive the message to the minds of Kenyans.
