Kisii county leaders have been challenged to safeguard Kisii town from  the  ongoing demonstrations by anti-IEBC  protesters who intends to bring destruction to the town.

According to former Kisii town, Mayor Sam Nyagweso who is  currently the Kenya National Library chairman he has cautioned the leaders who are allowing demonstrations to be held in Kisii town that the demos can bring destruction in the town.

Nyagweso who was speaking at Riangabi Primary School in Nyaribari Chache constituency on Sunday an exercise in readiness to the marking of environment day on June 5.

He said that Kisii town is a developing town hence no one needs to bring any destruction as the anti-IEBC demonstration are doing.

“During my time as a Mayor I tried to safeguard the town since I did not allow any demonstrations hence I advise the leaders to make sure that our town is well guarded since what we want is development,” said Nyagweso.

In addition, he said that it will be so embarrassing to hold demonstrations which intend to bring the destruction of properties which has taken a lot of time to acquire.

“Our town is small and the achievements that she has made in terms of development should not be destroyed by selfish leaders," said Nyagweswo.

He also urged the community to plant more trees as one way of conserving the environment.
