Nominated MP Johnston Sakaja has denied being in possession of marked ballot papers and fake money that were allegedly meant to be issued at Nyacheki in Kisii County.
A section of Kisii County residents on Tuesday took to social media platforms accusing the MP of using ‘antics’ to win the Nyacheki ward by-election.
Sakaja who spoke at Mosocho on Tuesday accused the ODM of ‘peddling’ malicious rumours and insisted that it had ‘sensed’ defeat despite holding high-profile campaigns.
“I cannot have an intention of rigging an election which we have already won. Jubilee never rigs elections and it’s unfortunate that our competitors are peddling malicious propaganda because they have sensed defeat,” he said.
“Just the mere fact that they have been running up and down doesn’t guarantee them victory. We have done enough ground work and those who speak of fake money should have reported the matter to the police,” he added.
The allegations come after the ODM party yet again accused Kisii Senator Chris Obure of holding a meeting with IEBC officials, claims which he vehemently denied.
