TNA chairman Johnstone Sakaja has bagged a continental award for his role in shaping the youth agenda in Kenya.

According to a letter from African Achievers Award, the recognition was due to his leadership skills and youth empowerment in Kenya.

The ceremony for the awards will be held at the International Conference Centre in Abuja, Nigeria on July 8.

The nominated MP has been recognised for being instrumental in helping the country achieve legislation aimed at empowering the youth.

Sakaja has successfully sponsored various bills that empower the youth, women and disabled including government's policy of allocating 30 per cent of all government tenders to youth, women and persons with disabilities and the National Employment Authority Act, which ensures unemployed and qualified Kenyans have easy access to jobs.

Other personalities who have received the award include former Malawi President Joyce Banda and Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
