Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja has dared Opposition coalition NASA leader Raila Odinga to make good of his threats and swear in himself.
Speaking on Monday, the lawmaker accused the former Prime Minister of hoodwinking the Jubilee government of oath plans.
He further observed that President Uhuru Kenyatta is the only legitimately elected Head of State in this country.
“This idea of swearing in Raila is being used to scare Jubilee and must come to an end. If Raila wants to swear himself in, he can go ahead. There is only one way to become president in Kenya and Uhuru is the legitimately elected president,” he said.
Previous plans to swear-in Raila in December were shelved in an unclear circumstances, with the NASA leadership announcing that they would communicate a later date for the ceremony.
According to sources, the outfit has since agreed to swear-in Raila and his Deputy Kalonzo Musyoka later this month.
The move has, however, elicited mixed reactions, with the international community challenging the NASA principals to reconsider the plan.
US Ambassador to Kenya Robert Godec contends that the move could further jeopardize the county's peace after a bruising political battle during the August polls.
