Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja has explained why President Uhuru Kenyatta has not submitted the names of the proposed Cabinet Secretaries to the Speaker of the National Assembly Justin Muturi.

Last week, Uhuru announced the first batch of the Cabinet, retaining current six CSs and naming three new-comers.

The State House has confirmed the President will name the rest of the Cabinet before the end of next week.

Speaking to the Standard on Wednesday, Sakaja said Uhuru will submit the list to Parliament once he names all the ministry bosses.

"The names will be submitted once the entire Cabinet is constituted. It is a requirement that names come with specific dockets," he said.

Sakaja said the vetting of the new nominees would indicate sacking of Cabinet Secretaries currently holding the positions.

"Forwarding the partial list will disrupt Cabinet operations since those holding the dockets will interpret it as their sacking," the Senator said.

The President, through his spokesman Manoah Esipisu, said the CSs not named in the new list had not been sacked as widely thought.

"This is to clarify that the CSs currently in office remain so, as instructed in a memorandum from the Head of Public Service in December 2017, until otherwise advised," read a statement from Esipisu.
