Despite losing in three of the four ward by-elections held on Wednesday, Jubilee party of Kenya has maintained that it gained greatly.
Former TNA chairman Johnson Sakaja on Thursday reiterated that JP had benefitted greatly in the by-elections because its candidates had garnered many votes in areas that were earlier perceived to be the opposition strongholds.
"JP is the biggest winner in this by-election because our candidates were able to garner votes in areas that had widely been perceived to be ODM strongholds.Look at Kisii and Kajiado. We never had substantial votes coming from those areas in 2013 elections but the by-elections are now painting a different story," he said.
He added that the Nyancheki ward had been marred by violence which could have cost their candidate the victory while in Mosiro ward their candidate had put up a spirited fight and only lost narrowly.
ODM won the Mosiro, Kalokol and Nyancheki wards while JPK won the Sala ward seat previously held by the Wiper Democratic Movement.
The by-elections had been occasioned by the deaths of the incumbents.
