Sakaja said the latest incident where a girl was allegedly raped at Moi Girls High School clearly showed that security at schools was poor especially at night.

“Matiang’i should order police officers to provide security at school especially at night to ensure students are safe. The latest rape incident at Moi Girls School in Nairobi shows that the security at our schools is poor at night,” he said.

He called on police officers to conduct thorough investigations to ensure the suspect who raped one of the girls at the school is brought to book.

“Police should work hand in hand with the school management in probing the rape incident and ensure the suspect behind the heinous act is brought into book. Rapists should be sent to jail because that is where they belong. The girl child must be respected and be given humble time to learn,” said Sakaja.

He was speaking at Bomas of Kenya on Sunday where he was attending a fundraiser.
