Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja has said that plans to impeach governor Mike Sonko will fail.
According to Sakaja, impeaching Sonko is not the best choice for the Jubilee party.
Through his Twitter, Sakaja said Nairobians want service delivery so it would be unfair to subject them to another political campaign.
"No plan to impeach Sonko will work,. It is too early to pass such a fatal judgement. What we want is what all Nairobians want; service delivery. Let no one take advantage of our misgivings on his choice of DG. That is a different matter," said Sakaja.
The impeachment debate arose after Sonko nominated lawyer Miguna Miguna as his deputy, a move that has been opposed.
Jubilee vice chairman David Murathe said that Miguna's appoitnment is a diversionary tactic by Sonko over poor service deliverty.
Sakaja is among key Jubilee leaders who have opposed the nomination of Miguna.
Speaker Beatrice Elachi on the other part said that the county assembly will vet and approve Miguna once he comes back into the country.
