Nominated Member of Parliament The National Alliance (TNA) chairman, Johnson Sakaja has accused his opponents in Nairobi governorship of meddling tribalism in their bid to seek the position.
Speaking in an exclusive interview on Monday, Sakaja said Nairobi is the capital city of Kenya and East Africa as a whole as well as the home to every Kenyan tribe.
"Those aligning themselves saying that the governor must come from their tribe should be aware that Nairobi is a cosmopolitan city and home of Kenya's 42 tribes. It is the capital city of Kenya and East Africa as a whole," said Sakaja.
He denied claims that the new Jubilee outfit to be launched on September 9 has its preferred candidate for the position saying that every aspirant will have to seek the nomination on individual capacity.
"The president and his deputy have no preferred candidate. All the aspirants will be required to go on the ground and seek for individual support from the people of Nairobi. No one will be endorsed freely by anyone," added the TNA chairman.
Sakaja dismissed the latest opinion poll by Tifa which graded him at 3% saying that the polls have no basis and cannot be cowed to bow down to other candidates who have no regard for the people of Nairobi at heart.
"Many do not have interests for the residents of Nairobi at heart. Unlike we who are born and raised up in Nairobi, they don't understand the needs of the people," added Sakaja.
