Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja has laughed off remarks by the National Super Alliance (NASA) that they won't recognise President Uhuru Kenyatta as the Head of State.
Speaking during a Sunday service at Redemeed Gospel Church in Huruma, Nairobi, Sakaja said Uhuru had the goodwill of the majority of Kenyans having won two elections in three months.
"Some claim they do not recognise Uhuru as the president. We recognise him. The Constitution recognises him and God recognises him," he said.
The Opposition has denounced Uhuru's win in the fresh presidential election which they boycotted, terming him as 'Jubilee president'.
NASA claim their leader Raila Odinga won the annulled August 8 poll, declaring him the 'people's president'.
Sakaja further warned Opposition leaders against disrupting Uhuru's swearing-in ceremony set for Tuesday.
"I am appealing to all Nairobi NASA MPs and MCAs not to incite their supporters to violence. We have seen enough chaos and we are tired of them," the Senator added.
Speaking at the same church, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko asked leaders to direct their energies to fostering peace instead of inciting Kenyans.
"If people must fight, let's fight ourselves as leaders and spare the ordinary people," Sonko said.
