Kanu party secretary general Nick Salat has asked Deputy President William Ruto to stop forcing them to fold up Kanu and join Jubilee Party.
Salat claims that DP Ruto is forcing Kanu leaders to back his leadership and also join JP.
Speaking during an interview on NTV on Tuesday, Salat told the DP that they can only support him willingly and not through force.
“The DP should stop forcing us (Kanu) to support his leadership,” he said during the interview,
Salat further claimed that the DP does not respect Kanu leaders.
“The DP should know that Kanu is what made him who he is today and must respect its leaders,” he said.
Salat added they respect the DP but he is not reciprocating the respect.
Kanu top leaders led by chairman Gideon Moi have differed with Deputy President on several occasions relating to key political issues.
On Monday during the burial of veteran politician Mark Too in Usin Gishu, Gideon Moi and DP Ruto clashed publicly.
There have been claims that DP Ruto has endorsed a candidate for the Baringo senate seat a move that has angered Moi was is the county senator.
Political analysts say that Gideon Moi is working hard to be Rift Valley region political kingpin.
The rift between the two leaders saw Kanu party decline to fold up and join Jubilee Party.
There have been speculations that Kanu will join the opposition to form the National Super Alliance (NASA) that seeks to unseat President Uhuru Kenyatta from power in the August 8 general elections.
