Salim Lone, the adviser to the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, has criticised Jubilee government over the shutdown of several TV stations.

The state on Tuesday January 30, 2018, closed four TV stations, Citizen, KTN, NTV and Inooro TV for broadcasting the controversial swearing in of Odinga as the 'People's President.'

Despite a court order to have the TV signals restored, the Communication Authority of Kenya (CAK) is yet to comply.

Taking to twitter on Monday, Lone noted that the government had allowed the swearing in to take place.

He, therefore, asked the government to prosecute the TV stations if it feels they committed a crime instead of shutting them down.

"The three TV stations covered an activity the government had allowed to proceed! If the committed crime prosecute them," tweeted Lone.

"You can't shut down a vital service like media, which is also a business, costing it millions," he added.
