Former Football Federation of Kenya Chair Sam Nyamweya has now announced that he will be coming out of self-imposed retirement, to ‘save Kenyan football. '
Nyamweya was pulled out of the top position in the country's football leadership back in 2016 when he made it clear on the day of the polls that he will not be vying for another term even as he looked all ready for a loss.
Nyamwenya has now said he intends to make a comeback after the High Court cleared him of any wrongdoing in the case that he was facing.
“I retired from football management when I opted not to participate in the last elections, that ushered in Nick Mwendwa, my former TMS manager who I believed will take it to the next level. Sadly, he has failed astronomically," said Nyamweya in a statement.
“I today announce that I am coming out of retirement courtesy of Nick Mwendwa, who provoked me by purporting ten-year ban on me from all football activities. Together with people who are ready to save our game from the current autocratic leadership, we are going to work together to save Kenyan football from the current fall,” he added.
Is it a new dawn for this former president, or is it a move to get into the headlines?
