Governor Granton Samboja held a consultative meeting with Maendeleo Ya Wanawake Organization (MYWO) officials from across the four sub counties with a purpose of unifying, nurturing and empowering women socially, economically and politically in line with their objectives in the society.

The governor said Taita Taveta government through the department of Youth, Gender, Sports and Social Services seeks to improve the living standards of youth, women and Persons Living with Disabilities (PLWDs) through strengthening and developing their networks as a vital instrument in making Taita-Taveta County a better place. 

"We will continue working together with the national government and our development partners in order to achieve this," he said on Friday.

As he vowed during campaigns, Samboja said his administration would strictly adhere to the Access to Government Procurement Opportunities (AGPO) programme where they are entitled to the 30% procurement rule which will enable them access government tenders. 

"Already the department is listing all companies and enterprises they own."

MYWO is a non-profit voluntary women's organization with a mission to improve the quality of life of the rural communities especially women and youth in Kenya and currently has a countywide membership of 5,000 women.
