Speaking on Sunday at the area during the meeting with the group, Evans Siko said the money would be part of Sh1 m he had set aside for supporting youth activities in the region.

He challenged youths to step up and come up with innovative ideas that can be supported by the county leadership and other organizations of well-wishers.

“I set Sh1 m that is meant for supporting youths in my area of representation. The little that I have given today, I hope it will be used for intended purpose,” he said.

“I would like to challenge youths from this area to come up with constructive and innovative ideas that can be supported and improved by area leadership and other governmental and non-governmental organizations,” he said.

Siko asked youths to shun leaders who were promoting hatred politics, and asked the National Cohesion and Integration commission to rally peace among Kenyan communities in the region.

“As youths, be active and innovative and that is the only way we can fight high levels of unemployment among us. Let us desist from being used by certain politicians in a negative way for their own gains,” he added.
