Seventh Day Adventist Church (SDA)pastor has encouraged young people from Riakemuma village, in Sameta sub-county, who have completed their standard eight and form four studies to consider joining youth polytechnics to acquire technical skills that will transform their lives.

Pastor, Charles Kebari who is a publishing pastor in charge of Nyansongo and Boronyi SDA districts, has underscored the importance of young people to acquire technical skills to empower themselves and their immediate families, instead of idling at home and market centres.

Speaking at Riakemuma at the home of Grace Onsare during a home church outreach programme, Kebari tipped local school leavers on the need for them to shed the white collar jobs mentality and instead tap on the potential brought about by youth polytechnics.

“I am reminding young people from the local communities that, youth polytechnics are not meant for academic failures as some people could think. These are institutions meant to empower everybody with technical skills that will transform them into job creators to other people who have various technical skills, to develop the country's economy,” stated Kebari.

He regretted that, majority of the school leavers looked upon down their colleagues who join youth polytechnics, describing them as academic failures, without knowing they are ridiculing job creators and drivers of the country's economy.
