Nandi senator Stephen Sang has sensationally claimed that electronic voting system could give a loophole for hacking by powerful foreign forces.
Sang adds that the system could be used by powerful politicians from the country who are well connected in the international arena.
In his submission in the Senate during the debate on the controversial election laws, Sang alluded that similar situation purportedly took place in the US.
“Mr. Speaker, we recently heard that even the US elections were hacked and that is an ongoing debate. This is a trivial issue and we must give IEBC time to implement the alternative complimentary which suites the system,” he said.
“Electronic system could give some well-connected powerful individuals to use foreign nations to hack our systems. We know those politicians and we cannot give them room to tamper with our internal affairs,” he added.
The opposition team under the leadership of Raila Odinga has put a spirited fight to rally behind electronic voting system.
