The Sarangombe ward strategic plan that was launched in 2014 by the Nairobi governor, Evans Kidero, is nearing its 2017 expiry term.
With barely a year to its deadline for full implementation, a number of projects have already been achieved with some being close to the successful end. As noted by the area MCA, K’otieno Owino, the ward has managed to secure key developments courtesy of the ward strategic plan.
K’otieno noted that at the prime line of the plan was access social, economic and physical initiatives that would propel the Sarangombe ward to a higher developmental level.
In the social aspect, the plan sought to ensure that the ward had the best educational and health facilities, access to clean water and gender equality among all its residents. The economic pillar of the ward was to expose its residents to the best markets in the surrounding areas in a bid to increase profits in its local businesses.
In the physical set-up, Sarangombe ward foresaw a ward that had decent housing and a clean environment conducive for human life, free from diseases and any factors that would put the lives of the ward residents at stake.
As the life span of the strategic plan nears the end, K’otieno said that much of what was put in print has been achieved. All the same, he said there are some challenges that come along the way that may lead to other projects not reaching their full accomplishment.
Sarangombe ward is the second in Kenya to have come up with a strategic plan after Kangundo.
