Kenyan renowned band Sauti Sol has received a mighty honour in the United Kingdom for their boundless sense of fashion, some months after the quad was put on the spot over their wardrobe.
Sauti Sol had the pleasure to have their picture and style highlighted in a major UK exhibition called fashion cities Africa at Brighton museum and art gallery.
Fashion cities Africa exhibition, which is devoted to current African fashion, had the bad members’ dummies robed in outfits they dress in in 2015 during a presentation at coke studio Africa with Nigeria’s Yemi Alade.
The museum stated on their social media that they selected the outfit after it became a centre of disagreement in the country.
"These outfits were somewhat contentious when worn by Kenyan boy band Sauti Sol during their coke studio performance in 2015. To see the outfits in the surface and find out why they instigated a stir, come along to fashion cities Africa at Brighton Museum," the museum post on instagram read in parts.
After the honour, the team lead singer Bien Baraza, retorted with a mocking comment: ‘My bed sheets made it to the UK’.
Earlier this year during a lively performance in Mombasa to promote their latest Live and Die in Africa album, the band was also teased for putting on clothes that Kenyans thought to be ‘Mosquito Nets’.
