At least five Nyamira MPs have been thrown to defense following allegations that they pocketed Sh 500, 000 from the Office of the President which were part of Sh1.5 million donated by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The OP chipped in when the MPs Joash Nyamoko (North Mugirango), Ben Momanyi (Borabu), Vincent Kemosi (West Mugirango), Okong'o Mogeni (Senator Nyamira and Women Representative Jerusha Momanyi asked aide for Naork accident victims.
In a detailed message, journalist Abuga Makori claims the MPs delivered only Sh1 million thus raising questions on the remainder.
"They were given Sh1.5 million by CS Fred Matiang'i but delivered only 1 million. They used Sh400, 000 to hire the chopper and paid Sh100, 000 separately as their contribution," he argued.
The claims have since gone viral in various Nyamira County social media platforms, raising condemnation and criticism in equal measure.
When reached on phone, Ms Momanyi distanced herself from the claims insisting that she only took her contribution and was not aware of Uhuru's Sh1.5 million.
"These are new allegations that I should not be part of. I did not board the chopper and I only paid my Sh20, 000," she said.
But an audio by Mr Kemosi, denied the allegations, insisting that the OP only issued Sh1 million for the funeral.
"I want to openly tell our people to ignore the rumours. We were given Sh 1 million and that can be confirmed," he said.
Nine of Narok accident victims were residents of Nyamira and their funeral expenses was cleared by the county government of Nyamira.
