Two students from Abuhureira Academy in Majengo, Mombasa, who performed well in this years’ KCPE examination have been awarded a four-year secondary school education free scholarship by the school.Abdisaalam Hassan Amin who scored 423 marks and Iptisam Mohammed Ismail who scored 414 marks out of possible 500 marks will pursue their high school education at the same school.Iptisam thanked the institution and her parents for their contribution and motivation, saying their support was what enabled them to excel in her studies.Iptisam’s dream is to become a neurosurgeon in future.“I am proud that we girls this time have done tremendously well in the KCPE examination, we hope our colleagues doing the KCSE examination will do even better than us,” said Iptisam.The primary school principal Mr Maalim Salim attributed the school’s good performance to the government’s strict measures to curb cheating which motivated students to work hard.Maalim said the institution has decided to offer the scholarship to the two pupils to motivate next year’s to work hard.“We should all work extra hard, let the parents play their critical role very well, the teachers too and the children ensure that they take their studies seriously,” he said.Maalim said the academy will continue supporting pupils who excel in their academics.Meanwhile, Mikindani MCA Juma Renson Thoya has urged parents to ensure their children pursue their secondary education.Speaking at Mikindani in Jomvu constituency on Friday, Thoya said if parents, teachers, students and political leaders work together, Mombasa County will continue recording good results.He promised to assist needy students who excelled in the KCPE examination to enable them to continue with their secondary education.
