Board of Governors, teachers and parents of Moi Primary School in Nakuru want the chairman of National Land Commission Muhammad Swazuri and Land Cabinet Secretary Charity Ngilu to assist them repossess their land grabbed by a private developer.
The board said a two-acre piece of land which was set aside for the construction of staff quarters has been grabbed by somebody who has already started constructing rental houses on it.
The chairperson board Alfred Bogonko Muriithi said the land was grabbed a few years ago and they have been in the process of regaining it without success. He said the school has all documents to prove ownership of the land and urged Land CS Charity Ngilu to intervene before the land is lost,
“A two-acre piece of land which was meant for the construction of staff quarters has been grabbed. I urge Charity Ngilu and Muhammad Swazuri to visit the school and launch investigations into the matter,” said Muriithi.
He added that teachers live far away from school despite it being a girls’ boarding school, just because the land has been grabbed by few individuals,” said Murithi.
“This is a boarding school, how can teachers stay far away from school just because of few individuals who have grabbed the school land?” he asked.
Muriithi cautioned land grabbers that there days are numbered and tough measures will be taken against them.
