A total of 365 newly appointed principles from Western and Central regions have completed a three-day induction seminar in Kisumu.
During the seminar at Tom Mboya Labour college on Thursday, the school heads were taken through procurement processes, curriculum supervision and implementation, financial and human resource management.
Directorate of Secondary and Tertiary Education Charles Khayira said the principles must come up with ways to complement the government’s efforts by coming up with innovative ways to improve the school.
Some of the infrastructure school heads were challenged to develop are adequate classrooms, well stocked libraries, equipped laboratories for science subjects, ICT facilities and internet.
It emerged that many heads who entered the system a long time ago were also not aware of how to develop the school infrastructure.
Khayira asked the school heads to explore other opportunities like charity walks, raffles, community contributions in kind and cost saving measures.
They were also challenged to develop infrastructures such as well stocked libraries, adequate classrooms, equipped laboratories for science subjects, Internet and ICT facilities.
