Abrar High School in Uasin Gishu County has been closed indefinitely following a fight among students over internal examinations.
More than 20 students sustained serious injuries during the incident.
According to the School's chairman Mohammed Ali, the students differed whether they should sit for end term examinations or not which prompted the fight on Wednesday night.
The school has a population of 300 students.
“The forms 4 and 3 students had ganged up to avoid sitting for end term exams but the forms 2 and 1 refused to cooperate," Ali said.
Ali said the police had to intervene to calm and disperse students to avoid destruction of school property.
“The police managed to stop the fight and protect the school from destruction," Ali noted.
“The school had to be shut down indefinitely to ensure safety of students and calm the situation that was getting out of hand, " he added.
Ali said 20 students who got injured during the fight were rushed to a nearby hospital, treated and discharged.
“I was shocked that our boys could be frightened by simple exams to a point ganging up against it," Ali said.
He said they will investigate the matter to identify the students who led the confrontation.
